FRIDAY!

Nothing new, here. I just thought I would check-in because today is Friday, my favorite day of the week!! A little bit of good news, I am NOT the worst person on the judging team, so far, I actually will get to compete at the collegiate level in Minnesota next week! I am glad this is a long weekend, and that I don't have to practice this weekend!

It rained last night because I spent $10.00 washing my truck between classes yesterday......it ALWAYS happens that way......oh well....

Wedged Wednesday....

Well as I woke up this morning, I spent most of my timing hoping that today would be a wonderful day like yesterday was. Yesterday I was at school, and it was a good day, I did alright on a quiz, and ended up with very little homework. As I went to livestock judging practice last night, the coach told me that I did an excellent job, and that was the best he had heard so far. That was awesome to hear since I have no real experience. To top all of that off, he even let me leave early-what a guy! Well when I got home I did have some homework to do, but seeing as I had just spent the last 8 hours in a class room and the last 2 at practice, back to the books is not really where I wanted to go. Sophie and I played for a little bit, and then we thought we could snag a quick nap before Nick got home. Well, napping we did. When Nick came home, he did the chores, fixed dinner AND made me brownies and woke me up when it was all waiting on the table for me. After that he even cleaned it all up so I could work on my homework. What a great day. Actually I thought that maybe today would be the same, since I only had to work today, which is always better than school, and practice should be pretty short tonight. Today was going good, my morning was great. My bows came in, and the stores all helped me get my work done, and finally it was time for me to go to lunch--my favorite--some one-on-one playtime with Sophie. As I got ready to leave my house after a much splendid lunch hour, I noticed it. One of our bucket calves had his little yellow head WEDGED through a panel in his pen. Granted this is NOT the first time this has happened. I reacted as I always do with a quick phone call to Nick, not ever thinking that he would not come and fix it. Well I was wrong, he was busy and told me that our calf would just have to wait until tonight before Nick could cut him out. In case you haven't been outside today, it is like 92 degrees, and feels like 96. The ONLY part of the panel that is not in the shade is the part that our little genius decided to wedge his head through. Because I am a worry wort, I knew that he could not last there until after 5 o'clock today when Nick got home, so I called my dad. Good ole' dad, he has the answers to everything. He told me that I needed to try to make him drink some water, and go and get the Dawn dish soap to put on his head. This is supposed to help get his head unstuck. I did what I was told. I went and got the dish soap and some water, I tried to make him drink and put HALF the bottle of soap on his head. So after about 15 mins. of pushing on his face, I called my dad back. Well FINALLY he told me that he would just come out and show me how to get him out without cutting the panel. My dad arrives, gets out of his truck, walks over to the calf, slightly twists his head, and pushes. Out he comes. He is free at last! My dad then gets back in his truck, wipes off his hands, and leaves. I have been outside, sweating, pulling, pushing, and cussing at this calf for MORE than 30 mins. and my dad gets him out in 30 seconds. What a job well done. Wish I could have done that. So as I am headed back to my job, because I was just to be on my lunch hour, Nick calls. He is on his way home to get the calf unstuck. Great timing honey! As we are talking, and he is getting closer to home, he sees 3 calves out on the road...needless to say I did not turn around. What a Wednesday...

No news...

I really have no new news, just the fact that I am pretty sure I will not know what free time is until December! Oh well, I will have Labor Day weekend off, and of course the "boys from Manhattan" will be down to hunt. What a weekend off, huh?? They are a good time, and wonderful guests that are polite, so it is not too bad! Some good news is that when I FINALLY got a little bit of time off on Saturday, my husband took me on a date. We went to eat at the Olive Garden and then bowling--it was a real date! (this is why I love him, lol). I look forward to a busy week this week, and a weekend off!! We will see how fast it goes...........

Ta Da!

Officially one day down. My first day of school is over, and it went well. I am afraid that my work load might be huge this semester, because I already had like an hour of homework to do last night, but it was not too hard, so that is good, and I liked it. I am sure that as I get back into the swing of things, and get back into some habits, it will get even better! I am excited to see what the rest of this week brings......

School starts tomorrow....

I am excited...but sad...

This year will be good, I am back to full time student status and on the livestock judging team. It should be an adventure if all else fails....

A Spark of Excitement

On a more serious note, I almost died today...
Okay, that might be going a little too far, but it could have been possible. It all really started last weekend when we were on vacation. One of the girls that went with us forgot her hair dryer, so she used mine. Afer using my hair dryer she said that she noticed that it was hot at the plug-in and that there were some wires showing. I wrote it off as no big deal, because at home it doesn't get unplugged until I get ready to leave for work, so I have never noticed it getting hot, and Hey, as long as it still works, who cares. Well, as I was drying my lovley hair this morning, and playing with my dog, I noticed a spark, or something...
Hmm, still no big deal really, it was still working. Another moment later, it sparked again and then stopped working. At this point, I am thinking that maybe I should not continue using it. Nick walks by, askes me what I am doing, and then tries to unplug it, you guessed it, it sparks again. Well, now we both are too afraid of dying to touch it, but it is sparking at the plug-in. Bad news boys, what are we gonna do now???
So my lovley husband goes and finds a leather glove ( I am not sure how that would save him), puts it on, and pulls on the cord until it comes out of the plug-in! TA DA! We are saved!!! What a guy, huh?
What a good start to today...

The Newbie

So, because I have some free time on my hands today, I thought I would give this a try. Let me tell you, I am moving up in this world though, I have recently taken on facebook and now this... Watch out boys, here I come!
No, but really, I like to read other people's blogs and I thought maybe someone would like to read mine. There are lots of things that happen around these parts that are worth more than a chuckle, so they should be shared. If you have never been to Hepler, well what a treat it is, and for the most part everyone here is related, it probably should really be called Harrisville because if it were not for Harris family, the town's population would be even smaller. As a result of this, everyone makes up their own rules, and odd things often happen...
Let me welcome you to out little part of Harrisville...
